Right now I have three death systems that people have came to me, you'll all saying this and that so I decided to make a poll. Please only VOTE once if for some reason you are able to vote again.
1) NPC items drop without a corpse; Any item dropped by a NPC kill have a timer of 1-2 minutes for the player whom killed the NPC to pick up the item or items, after the 1-2 minutes are up, any item that was dropped is game to anyone to use.
If a player is killed by a NPC or another Player, they will not lose any equipment, only inventory items. They can lose up to a top of 6 inventory items (May be changed to more or less in future.) If it was a player whom killed another player, the items dropped by the killed player can only be picked up by the killer for about 1-2minutes, (like the NPC death system.) After that time, its' free game to anyone else.
You are respawned at a cloning facility, with items intact, cept the items you lost during death with a certain loss of player exp. Player will be dazed for 2-10 minutes (Don't have a set yet, maybe 5 minutes is good.) Where there 'stats' are low because of being killed. They will gradually go up.
"The person that killed a NPC wouldn't get loot rights, it should be the person that deals the most dmg, to stop people from kill stealing the last hit"
2) When an NPC dies, its corpse drops to the ground into the "items" section. Whoever dealt the most damage will have 1 - 2 minutes to loot the corpse before it becomes open to anyone. This will prevent people from kill stealing to get the loot. After 5 minutes the corpse disolves along with all its loot.
When a player dies, if the death is from an NPC, no player may loot the corpse. The player that was killed will have 30 minutes to return to his corpse to loot himself. After 30 minutes have passed the corpse will decay along with all the belongings. A corpse may be picked up by a player but only if the person that died grants that person rights to do so. When a player clicks the "pick up corpse" option the person's whose body it is will get a message asking if "Do you wish to give Nitehawk permission to retrieve your body." the player may either "agree" and nitehawk may pick it up, or not do anything that that player will not have permission to pick it up. Even when picked up, it may not be looted except by the actual owner. Body's may be held for ransom however and many people make a living off body retrieval. Those who gain a more respectful reputation will more likely be given permission to loot by his peers.
Only items that are in the player's inventory stay on the corpse. Any equipped items and shards stay with the revived player.
If a player should kill another player, then that player may loot the corpse of his fallen enemy. Again, only items in inventory may be looted. The same time penalties apply as above for the player to retrieve his corpse, and may give permission to another to loot their corpse.
Revival Options:
Body Recovery : As stated above, a player may be given permission to loot a corpse. Should the dead player choose the "body recovery" option after dying, the dead player will not respawn, and will instead wait with his body. (there should be a command that will bring up the revival options again while the player waits to have their body retrieved if it is taking too long for someone to come recover their body). The player's corpse may then be taken to a hospital, and for a steep fine. If the player waits for 30 minutes and no one has come to retrieve his body, then he is automatically Mentally Uploaded and his corpse decays.
Meat Wagon : If within the borders of a city with a hospital, the recently killed person can send out a signal to the local hospital and the hospital can send a meat wagon to transport the body back to the hospital to be revitalized. The fee for such a transfer is quite steep, although the hospital stay itself is free of charge. Experience and stats may be reduced from the revitalization. If the meat wagon option is available, and is chosen, the corpse is immediately transported to the hospital for revival.
Mental Upload : Upon death, if not within range of a hospital to call the meat wagon, and no other player is around to move your body back to a hospital for you, you have the option of uploading your mind via The Interlink to the nearest cloning facility, where they will plant your mental image into a brand spankin new body. You take a dramatic temporary stat loss, including stamina, health and mana. Experience loss is also more extreme than if a hospital revived you. This is a free-of-charge service and anyone may use it no matter where they are in the universe. Using this method of revival leaves your corpse where it was killed for 30 minutes. If you do not get to your corpse by then, or if you have not given permission to another player to collect your corpse, it will decay along with your inventory items that were on it.
3) NPC Kills are same as 1); NPC items drop without a corpse; Any item dropped by a NPC kill have a timer of 1-2 minutes for the player whom killed the NPC to pick up the item or items, after the 1-2 minutes are up, any item that was dropped is game to anyone to use.
If your killed by a player or NPC, a 'corpse' appears of yourself, like 2). You will not be able to loot the target. Basicly, when you find your corpse, you can pick it up and bring it to a 'special' NPC to extract the items. The corpse is able to be picked up like a item by someone else, and returned to the 'special' NPC, at which they will get a reward, which will be apart of whatever gold the killed player has on the corpse at the current time.
A player will spawn at the cloning facility with no items at all. They will have lost exp like the other options, but will not have any temp stat losses. They will need to get to there corpse to get there items. If no one picks up/hands in the corpse in 30min-1hour, it automatically gets handed in to the 'special NPC'. If there is a server crash before this, or during server matienece, (Which is once a day.) The items will be returned to them. So if they cannot reach there items or anyone else cannot reach it for them, they will have to wait usually until the next server restart. This would require some sort of corpse death images as well.
